    Fine Art Floral Photography

Fine art floral photography is one of my main interests in photography. Flowers are beautiful, and creative photography multiplies this beauty. I habitually edit photos of flowers and spread this work by making different backgrounds. I reached this stage, a method that connects me to fine art photography.

Using petals’ color for Colored backgrounds in fine art floral photography

I started my work in fine art floral photography by making the background using the colors of the stamen or the petals. The background was not uniform, and I used lighting to shape it.

Please have a look at FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY IMAGES to see more images.

In this photo, I used the columbine flower’s stamen color. I made the upper part of the background darker, and the lower background is lighter and close to the stamens’ color. I also created a light source at the bottom. The combination of this coloring and lighting is suitable for the shape of the flower and has created an attractive view of it. The stamens’ color contrasts with the darker part of the background.

I made a background for these flowers in the same style, but the lighting differs. I used the color of the petals, and all this was done in the software.

Here, the color of the newer petals differs from that of the older petals, and both are used in the background.

I like this photo very much. I photographed a small flower with an Extension Tube on the side of the village road.

Using the black and white background for flowers photos

It is very common to use a simple black background in fine art floral photography, and this photo is an example of one that I used. Water drops are also very common and really interesting for photographing flowers.

Lighting in the software to produce the background can have various forms.

This background is factual and belongs to the photo, but I changed its color to black and white. The rose color is not natural and has been changed in the editing.

Using blurred backgrounds for fine art flower photography

Using colors other than the color of the flower in the background

A monotone color for both the rose and its background

It was a white rose. The petals were slightly damaged, which discouraged me a little. In editing, I completely changed the color of the flower and made a monochrome background with the same color. It looks attractive, as if the flower came out of the liquid or became a part of the surrounding environment.

Using effects to create fine art photos

The background of this yellow Lilium flower is autumn leaves on the ground, taken from another photo. I changed the natural color of the leaves to green. The bright yellow Lilium stands out among the dried leaves and is attractive, as expected from a fine art photograph.

Using the software, I created the water drops on the plant, the water surface and waves on it, and the reflection of the plant on the water.

    Blossom fine art photography

I took this photo of apricot blossoms early in the morning with a flash, and the light was not enough. The contrast of the bright color of the flowers with the half-dark sky has given the photo a special effect.

Photos that are not edited but are still considered fine art floral photos

In these photos, no editing was done to change the nature of the photo, and the editing was limited to optimizing the image. However, they are still considered fine art photos because they are unique. Because not all the flowers fit in the frame and only a part can be seen in the picture, this composition or an insect sitting on the flower makes a memorable image.

Photography of a wilted cyclamen flower

It was a wilted cyclamen flower. When I took a picture of it, I did not notice the fading of the edges of the petals. In editing, I used the color of the petals and darkened the color, rotating the image of the flower in the background. The result was excellent, and the dark color harmonized with the flower’s withering.

    Butterfly on the flower

I could not stop myself from posting this photo here. A butterfly sat on this flower while taking a picture of a flower and started feeding.

    Good Luck
